io9′s Book Club Pick

The August pick for io9.com’s Book Club is N.K. Jemisin’s THE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINGDOMS! Click here to read the first chapter.

We’re excited for Nora, especially because you can look forward to reading the second book, The Broken Kingdoms in November 2010.

To give you a little bit more about the book:

In the city of Shadow, beneath the World Tree, alleyways shimmer with magic and godlings live hidden among mortalkind. Oree Shoth, a blind artist, takes in a strange homeless man on an impulse. This act of kindness engulfs Oree in a nightmarish conspiracy. Someone, somehow, is murdering godlings, leaving their desecrated bodies all over the city. And Oree’s guest is at the heart of it. . .

And, to give you an early look, here is the new cover.

Awesome. I enjoyed the Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. It’s nice to see the cover treatment is keeping the theme and I’m glad I won’t have to wait until next spring to read the sequel.

  2. I really enjoyed reading this book, and really look forward to getting back into the world here. It is quite amazing with the gods, and I think the second one will just expand on the gods ideas. Thanks and best of luck to Nora. :)
