		<description><![CDATA[For me as a reader, the thing that makes Declare such an effective &quot;ambassador to the subgenre,&quot; if there could be such a thing, is that in addition to featuring the usual delicious Tim Powers para-historical weirdness, it&#039;s superbly executed as an homage to the John le Carre-style espionage procedural.  So (again, for me personally) it&#039;s a near-perfect blend of the occult (which Powers does without equal) and the spy thriller (of which le Carre is one of the masters).]]></description>
