About Bella Pagan
I'm a commissioning editor at Orbit and have realised - to my surprise - that I am the longest-standing member of the London office. Among other things, my job involves reading an unfeasibly large number of words per minute, acquiring books for Orbit and Atom, and attempting to write glowing cover copy. Here, much time is spent debating whether to put in ellipses, take them out, leave them in . . . but I think I'm getting the balance about right (!). I started reading SF and Fantasy around the age of seven (before this it was read to me) and should think my brain is now interestingly furnished. And when not obsessing over my reading matter I enjoy customising things, including enamelling stuff that would look better that way (this doesn’t include my hands or kitchen table). Other distractions include haberdashery and the hopeful planning of interesting holiday itineraries.
