I'm the publicist for Orbit books in Australia and my job is to coax and cajole literary editors into running reviews of speculative fiction books within their newspapers. I completed a Communications Degree at the University of Newcastle in 2003 and then accidentally fell into publishing and decided I quite liked it. (In my childhood my mother always had to prise a book out of my hands at dinner times, so perhaps this field of work is not such a surprise after all.) Since finishing university I've worked at Pan Macmillan and Random House, coming to Hachette Livre at the beginning of 2007. I like my SF dystopian, with portents of doom and a dash of whimsy.
